Call to Action - Enhance Your Conversion Rates
By Todd Jungling
Do your online visitors know what they are supposed to do on your website? Have you created a sense of urgency - a reason to respond now? Most websites neglect this critical consideration. It is one common reason why many websites ultimately fail. Afterall, you could have significant amounts of online traffic to your website, but if people don’t respond, your website will be a failure.
Having an effective call to action will greatly enhance the conversion rate of your website. The website conversion rate is really the, single most important statistic when it comes to understanding the health of your website because it is how you measure your marketing Return on Investment (ROI).
An effective Call-to-Action generally possessed the following characteristics:
- It is located “above the fold” - Above the fold refers to the location near the top of a web page which can be viewed in a browser without scrolling.
- The call to action is clearly visible and highlighted - You do not need to sift through excessive verbiage to “find” the call to action request.
- Call to action responses can be effectively measured - For example, you may want to know how many people picked up the phone and specifically called in response to your web promotion or web page. You may also want to know how many people filled out a form on your website in response to a specific request. Measurement is critical to website success.
- The call to action should be very relevant - For example, if you are on the “electronics” section of a retail website, the call to action should have something to do with electronics.
These are just a couple of simple examples of call to action characteristics that can help your website conversion rates and ultimately ensure your website is a success.
